From Newport to the starting line — a look at the team and moments driving this event forward.
Hi! My name is Jack Masse. The Rhode Rally is my senior project — a charity car rally with one simple goal: to harness Rhode Island's car culture and community to raise money for causes that matter. I've been a volunteer at the Audrain Automobile Museum for almost three years, and that's where this idea was born. I'm honored to be working alongside Ben Chester and the entire Audrain team to bring it to life.
For the last eight years, I have been deeply involved with a wide scope of events we have hosted through the Audrain Automobile Museum, incorporating everything from domestic and international rallies, to a world class four-day Concours & Motor week we run here in Newport. As an extension to our growing internship program, I am thrilled to help guide Jack toward his goals of running a world class event. We are excited to hone in on all details of this dynamic event, so it is executed as smoothly as a new Cadillac!
The Audrain Automobile Museum is one of Newport's most celebrated cultural institutions — and the official home of The Rhode Rally. Their support and collaboration have been essential in bringing this senior project to life as a real, community-driven event.
I'm Jack Masse — a Rhode Island high school senior who loves cars and wanted to build something that actually mattered. I've been a volunteer at the Audrain Automobile Museum for almost three years, and that experience is what sparked this whole idea. What started as a senior project has turned into a real fundraising event, built from the ground up in partnership with Audrain.
The Rhode Rally is a full-day charity car rally from Newport to the Larz Anderson Auto Museum in Brookline, MA and back — featuring a private tour of the Postcars: Icons of the Road and the Wall exhibit, breakfast at Audrain’s Clubhouse, group lunch, and a private tour of the Audrain Automobile Museum featuring their current British at Its Best exhibit. Every dollar raised goes directly to Hasbro Children’s Hospital in Providence, RI. This is year one, and we’re doing it right.
The Rhode Rally convoy heads north from Newport to the Larz Anderson Auto Museum in Brookline, Massachusetts — home to America's oldest car collection. Housed in a 1888 Carriage House (a National Historic Landmark) within 64-acre Larz Anderson Park, the museum traces the evolution of the automobile from its earliest days.
The collection began with Ambassador Larz Anderson and his wife Isabel's first purchase in 1899 — a Winton 4-hp Runabout — and grew to 32 motorcars spanning four decades. After Isabel's passing in 1948, the collection was entrusted to the Veteran Motor Car Club of America for preservation.
On May 23rd, Rhode Rally drivers will receive an exclusive private tour of the Postcars: Icons of the Road and the Wall exhibit — closed to the public during our visit. Lunch follows before the convoy returns to Newport for the day's final stop.
